Liquid silicone and solid silicone are two different forms of silicone materials.
Liquid silicone refers to a material in which silicone is in a liquid state at room temperature. It consists of two liquid components, one is a silane coupling agent used to cross-link silicone, and the other is a catalyst used to promote the cross-linking reaction. Liquid silicone has thin fluidity and can be used for casting in molds. It is characterized by good flow, short cure time and high elastic modulus, making it suitable for applications requiring potting, encapsulation and covering.
Solid silicone refers to a material in which silica gel is in a solid state at room temperature. It solidifies liquid silicone by adding a curing agent to form a rubber-like solid material. Solid silicone has excellent physical properties such as high strength, high elasticity, anti-aging, high and low temperature resistance and chemical stability. It usually exists in block, flake or powder form and can be processed and applied by cutting, extruding or pressing. Solid silicone is widely used in sealing, insulation, waterproofing, sound insulation, shock absorption and other fields.
In general, liquid silica gel and solid silica gel have certain differences in physical properties, application fields and processing methods. Liquid silicone is suitable for applications that require pouring and covering, and has a short curing time and high elastic modulus; solid silicone is suitable for applications that require high strength and anti-aging properties, and can be processed by cutting, extrusion, etc.
